Can AI calculate construction quotes?

Yes, for most of the work between the drawing and the price: quantity take-off from drawings and specifications, pricing from your own unit rates and post-calculations, and a first draft of the quote. The estimator still decides. This guide says exactly which steps AI takes over, which stay human, what a Dutch contractor spends on it and what it returns.

It reads drawings and the specification into a bill of quantities, prices the items from your own unit rates and post-calculations, drafts the quote and flags what is missing or unusual. It does not replace the estimator's judgement on risk, margin and the details the drawings do not show. What AI cannot do in a construction calculation

Three things, and a good supplier says so before the demo. It cannot see what is not on the drawing: the ground conditions, the access, the client who changes the brief. It cannot know that a price moved last week unless your supplier quotes are in the system. And it produces a confident number for an unusual detail exactly as easily as for a routine one, which is why every item carries a confidence flag and why the estimator's signature stays on the quote. Under the Wkb the quality burden already sits with the builder; a calculation nobody can explain is a liability, not a saving.

The software the sector runs matters too. Whether you calculate in Ibis (Brink), Bouw7, KPD, Syntess Atrium or Admicom, the AI layer has to write back into that system and into your ERP or accounting package, or the estimator ends up retyping. Integration is usually half the project.
