AI for Logistics, Warehousing & Transport

We build custom AI into the systems your logistics operation already runs — WMS, TMS, ERP — so warehouse moves, routes, forecasts and paperwork stop eating margin. Nederlandse hub: <a href="/nl/ai-voor-logistiek/">AI voor logistiek</a>.

In short

AI for logistics automates warehouse tasks, route planning, demand forecasting and document processing by building custom models into your WMS/TMS/ERP — not by selling you another SaaS. Crux works to fixed prices: an AI audit at €2,500, a working proof of concept at €20,000, and production systems from €50,000. You own the code.

Where AI pays off in logistics

The best returns come from the repetitive, decision-heavy work your planners and warehouse staff do by hand every day. We scope the highest-value use case first, prove it, then scale it into production.

Use case → what the AI does → outcome

A concrete view of how each capability maps to an operational result. We instrument every build so the outcome is measurable against your own baseline.

Use caseWhat the AI doesOutcome
Warehouse automationOptimizes slotting and pick paths from live order dataFaster picks, fewer touches, higher throughput per shift
Route optimizationPlans and re-plans routes/loads against constraintsLower kilometres and fuel, more on-time deliveries
Demand forecastingPredicts SKU-level demand and reorder pointsLess overstock and fewer stockouts, freed-up working capital
Document / OCRExtracts and validates data from CMR, invoices, customs docsHands-free intake, fewer errors, faster settlement

Custom build vs. buying an off-the-shelf product

Most logistics AI tools are generic SaaS: you bend your process to their model and rent access forever. Crux does the opposite. We build AI that fits your WMS, TMS, ERP, carriers and label formats — your data, your rules, your integrations. You own the code and the models outright, so there is no per-seat lock-in and no vendor deciding your roadmap. A packaged product can be part of the stack where it genuinely wins; the intelligence and the glue that make it work in your operation are custom. See AI automation for how we integrate.

What it costs

Fixed prices, no open-ended day-rates. You know the number before we start, and each stage earns the next.

  • AI audit — €2,500: we map your logistics workflows, data and systems and rank use cases by ROI and feasibility.
  • Proof of concept — €20,000: a working model on your real data proving the value before you commit to build.
  • Production — from €50,000: the integrated, EU AI Act-ready system running in your operation, owned by you.

How we ship

A staged path that de-risks every euro. Audit — we find the highest-value use case and confirm your data can support it. Proof of concept — we build it against your real data and measure it against your baseline. Production — we harden, integrate into your WMS/TMS/ERP and hand over a documented, EU AI Act-ready system your team owns and can run without us.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does AI for logistics cost?

Fixed prices: €2,500 audit, €20,000 proof of concept, production from €50,000. The audit ranks use cases by return, the proof of concept proves one of them on your real data, and production delivers the integrated system. You own the result at every stage.

  • Common first use cases: route and load planning, freight document processing, stock forecasting, delivery-time prediction.
  • Integration depth drives the price more than anything else — one system to connect is far cheaper than five.

Is this a software product I subscribe to?

No. This is custom software you own, not a subscription. Crux Digits is not a WMS and not a SaaS product. We build AI and integrate it into the systems you already run — WMS, TMS, ERP, carrier and label platforms — and hand over the code.

  • No per-seat licence and no vendor lock-in: if we part ways, the system keeps running.
  • Your running costs are hosting and model usage, not a growing licence bill as you add users.
  • A SaaS tool is usually the better choice when your process is standard; custom pays off when it is not.

Can the AI integrate with our existing WMS, TMS and ERP?

Yes, and integration is the whole point. We connect to your warehouse, transport and ERP systems through their APIs or scheduled data exports, so the AI works inside your current process instead of replacing it. Your team keeps the tools and workflows it already knows.

  • Typical connections: WMS, TMS, ERP, carrier portals, label and track-and-trace platforms.
  • Where a system has no API, we fall back to scheduled exports or direct database reads.

Do we have enough data for AI to work?

Usually more than you think. Order history, routes, stock movements and scanned documents are all usable, and most logistics operations have years of it. The €2,500 audit exists to check this before anyone commits, so you never pay for a build your data cannot support.

  • The audit assesses three things: is the data reachable, is there enough of it, and does it contain the answer.
  • Consistency beats volume — a year of clean order history usually outperforms five years of mixed records.
  • If a use case is not viable yet, we say so and name what would need to change.

Is it compliant with the EU AI Act?

Yes, and most logistics use cases sit in the lower-risk tiers. Those still require documentation, transparency and human oversight, which we build in rather than add afterwards. Route planning and document processing rarely count as high-risk; anything deciding about people can.

  • Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 defines the risk categories; Article 4 requires AI literacy for staff who use AI at work.
  • Because the build is custom and you own the code, you can evidence compliance yourself.
  • Check your own case in four questions with the free EU AI Act risk checker.
