Looking for a Zedrox alternative

Zedrox is a Rotterdam software company that also sells AI services. If you are commissioning an application and want AI inside it, that combination makes sense. This page explains what it publishes, and where a firm that does AI as its main job rather than as a component is the better fit.

In short

Zedrox is a software house first: its site lists custom software, web apps, MVPs, API integrations, WordPress, Magento and Shopify work and cybersecurity services, alongside AI development, consulting, chatbots, generative AI, automation and agentic AI. It states it works across the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. That suits a buyer commissioning an application with an AI component. If the AI is the product rather than a feature, and the hard part is model behaviour, evaluation and integration with operational systems, a specialist is the better fit.

How this comparison was made

Every firm below was read on its own website on 2 September 2026: the homepage, the about page and the services pages. We describe each firm the way it describes itself, and we say plainly where we could not check something.

Their offer

What Zedrox publishes on its own site

Zedrox publishes a broad stack, which is normal for a software house and worth reading carefully.

Their strength

When Zedrox is the better choice

When the deliverable is an application. If what you actually need is a web app, a portal or an MVP, and AI is one feature inside it, hiring a software house is the right shape. Hiring an AI specialist to build a full application means paying a specialist to do general work.

When you need a webshop platform. Magento and Shopify work is a distinct skill set. We do not do it.

When security is the headline requirement. They present security as built into development from the start, which is the right posture for an application handling sensitive data.

The difference

When AI is the product, not a feature

Building software and building AI systems overlap less than the job titles suggest. In an application, correctness is mostly a matter of logic you control. In an AI system, the behaviour is probabilistic, so the work is in evaluation, guardrails, fallbacks and the honest measurement of how often it is wrong.

That difference shows up in what a project needs. An AI build needs an evaluation set before it needs a user interface, a documented answer to what happens when the model is confident and wrong, and a plan for the day a provider deprecates the model version underneath you. If nobody raises those three things unprompted, the supplier is treating AI as a feature.

It also shows up in the systems. A named operational integration, an AFAS or Exact posting, a WMS lookup, a SCADA tag, is where these projects fail, and it is worth asking specifically who has done that before.

Be honest

When we are the wrong call

Do not hire us to build a webshop, migrate a Magento store, or deliver a full custom application where AI is a minor feature. We would be an expensive way to get general development done, and a software house like Zedrox is the more sensible purchase.

We are the better fit when the AI is the difficult part: document processing that has to survive real-world layouts, an assistant grounded in your own data, or a model in a production process where being wrong has a cost.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is a software house worse at AI than a specialist?

Not automatically, and the framing is unhelpful. What matters is whether the specific team has shipped AI into production and can talk about evaluation, failure modes and model deprecation without being prompted. Ask that directly; the answer separates suppliers faster than any credential.

We need an application with AI in it. Who should we hire?

Usually the software house, with a specialist available for the AI component if it is genuinely hard. Hiring an AI boutique to build a full application means paying specialist rates for general development work, which is poor value.

Do you build web applications at all?

We build the interfaces our own AI systems need, and we integrate with what you already run. We do not take on general application development or e-commerce platform work, and we will say so in the first call rather than stretching to fit.
